Natural Stone Definitions

Joint

A space between installed stone units or between a dimensional stone and the adjoining material.

Jointing Scheme

The intentional pattern created by the direction and position of stone joints as determined by the design professional for aesthetic reasons

Jumper Stone

A piece of stone with higher rise than adjacent stones, used to end a horizontal mortar joint at its set point, in ashlar patterns.
